The Aga Khan Education Service (AKES), Tanzania, is a private, non-profit service company registered under the Companies Act. It operates two international curriculum schools in Dar es Salaam offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (including the early years) and the Diploma Programme (DP); the Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum; the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE); and the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) for Form 1-4.
The vision of AKES, Tanzania is to provide accessible, world-class education, which prepares students to become self-confident, open-minded, articulate, and ethical young people with academic qualifications that enable them to make productive contributions to their own community and wider society. Teachers at Aga Khan Education Service March 2025
- Mathematics and Science Subjects Teachers with experience in IGCSE and IB DP curriculum.
- French Teacher with experience in IGCSE/IB curriculum.
- Computer Science Teachers with experience in IGCSE/IB Curriculum.
- English Language and Literature Teachers and Head of Department with experience in IGCSE and IB DP curriculum.
- Nursery School Teacher.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide a safe and stimulating environment for students to ensure smooth teaching and learning.
- Set the ultimate objectives that must be achieved and challenge each and every student to help them grow in the process of achieving their learning goals.
- Ensure that students achieve the set objectives, excellent results, and continuously improve.
- Be aware of the capabilities and knowledge the students possess and plan their teaching materials accordingly.
- Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and ability to implement various efficient teaching methods.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree/Master’s in education from a reputable accredited university.
- Minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in teaching a similar subject in IGCSE and IB DP curriculum in an international school.
- Good understanding of and experience in curriculum management design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Understanding of 21st-century education practices, strategies for raising student’s achievement, and effective frameworks for school improvement planning and self-evaluation.
Aga Khan Nursery and Primary School, Dar es Salaam
Support Staff: Life Support- Identifies potential threats to safety.
- Watches over patrons to ensure they are safe.
- Rescues patrons in danger of drowning or in need of first aid.
- Contacts appropriate persons in case a situation escalates beyond their expertise.
- Assists with swimming lessons.
- Enforces the facility’s rules.
- Maintains a level of physical competence to carry out the job.
- Inspects facility and immediately reports any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor.
Support Staff: Kitchen Helper
- Experience in dealing with students aged 3-12.
- Proficient in English language.
