This position will be based in the Policy Team that consist of a motivated group of 11 Policy Analysts, who are passionate about influencing policy change to enable sustainable access to WASH to the world's poorest and most marginalised people through evidence-based advocacy.

As our Senior Policy Analyst - Health you will lead on WaterAid's public policy and global advocacy strategies to strengthen systems through integrating WASH and hygiene behaviour change into to health sector strategies, budgets and services You will be the policy lead on thematic health portfolio areas including health financing, choler and pandemic preparedness. The post holder will generate the evidence and policy solutions on WASH, health and financing. You will also be conversant with system-strengthening - a way of working that WaterAid is seeking to embed across our work.

This opportunity is full time for 13 months as maternity cover.
In this role, you will provide the analytical and research evidence to develop policy and financing options to drive prioritisation and scale-up of WASH in international and national-level health policies and programmes as well as working with fellow health and financing leads and country programmes to provide policy and research support to Country Programmes to strengthen inclusion of WASH in national health policies, budgets, plans and processes.

You'll also:

1. Work closely with country programmes, the Policy and Campaigns Department and communications teams to conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis across a range of financing and related health area and develop context-relevant, evidence-based policy messages and influencing materials
2. Provide sector leadership and acting as a recognised authority in sector debates on WASH, health and financing. Act as focal point for WaterAid's work with the World Health Organization (WHO) and represent WaterAid in external networks and platforms such as the Global Task Force for Cholera Control (GTFCC) and the Pandemic preparedness network and other relevant platforms.
3. Provide leadership and guidance across WaterAid including with members of the Directors' Team and Chief Executives and across the breadth of leadership of our Country Programmes and federation members.
4. Provide technical policy information on health and health financing for outward facing campaign materials. Provide a consistent response to support requests from other teams and departments, in particular Media, Communications and Funding teams, Programme Support and Regional Teams.

To be successful, you'll need:
* Substantial experience in health and financing policy and policy-making in lower income and least developed countries and an exceptional track record of devising and implementing high impact advocacy strategies.
* A systems thinker with experience in health economics, working on health financing and national level budget tracking including strong quantitative skills and research capacity,
* Ability to translate research, policy analysis and scientific evidence on WASH and health into clear advocacy messages for a variety of audiences, to affect policy and practice change.
* Experience of coordination, working within networks and leading and motivating others and driving change
* Exceptional critical thinking and oral and written skills in English. Excellent communication skills and ability to use these in relation to a variety of specialist and non-specialist audiences.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to prioritise and follow through on multiple, competing tasks, work independently and to short deadlines
* A team player, able to work responsibly, under pressure, and collaboratively across diverse groups and culture. A working style that reflects WaterAid's values of Respect, Accountability, Courage, Collaboration, Integrity and Innovation.

Salary:
Salaries and benefits for different countries will vary in line with the location of the successful candidate and depending on experience. The role is within the salary banding of Grade 2 in UK and Grade G in Country Programme.
