Plan International has been working in Tanzania since 1991. Our work supports marginalised children and youth, especially adolescent girls, to grow up physically and mentally healthy and ready to shape their future. We create an enabling environment and empower girls to be active drivers of change in realising their rights. We prioritise working with partners, and ensuring all of our work is evidence based.

Nkasi PU has started its operation in March 2016 as result of the process of Plan Tanzania overarching aim is to reach the marginalized and excluded in line with Plan’s global strategy. The region, Rukwa as a whole is performing poorly in almost all social – economic indicators, and sponsorship feasibility was observed to be favourable for Plan International to work in the area. We are currently identified 5 wards where sponsorship communication project is focused

role PURPOSE

This role aim to Facilitate children, parents and partners in designing, planning, implementing and monitoring projects at the grassroots level while building and maintaining the relationship through meaningful communication across cultures.

Dimensions of the Role
  • Directly reports to Program Unit Manager.
  • Responsible for building relationships and communication activities, community mobilization and facilitation in program activities.
  • Manages budget of the projects facilitated at the community.

Accountabilities
1. Community mobilization and facilitation
  • Facilitate the communities and other stakeholders in resource mobilization.
  • Facilitates effective participation of children, families, communities and stakeholders in program activities
  • Facilitate communities in the design, implementation and monitoring of community managed projects in line with the CCCD agenda.
2. Maintain and strengthen Plan relationship and partnership with key stakeholders and partners through coordination, Networking and Advocacy.
  • Establish good working relations with children, families, community leadership, community-based organizations (CBOs), government extension staff and other stakeholders at ward and village levels
  • Participate and organize in stakeholder meetings and networks at ward and village levels.
  • Coordinate all Plan`s business at the grassroots and facilitate the process of self-empowerment of children, families, groups and association.
3. Sponsorship Communications activities
  • Create community awareness and the community volunteer on development education and communication materials. Ensure communities are aware of Plan’s Programmes and approaches
  • Facilitate the process of community reflections and project effectiveness.
  • Facilitate meaningful dialogue between children, families, communities and sponsors using Plan`s sponsorship and development communication mechanism and tools.
  • Promote integration of Sponsorship Communications and program processes at field level
  • Facilitate production of quality Sponsorship Communications products to meet set deadlines
  • Carry out regular home visits to all sponsored families and findings are documented on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure Community members, SC and Families participate effectively on Plan’s Programmes as evidenced in children’s voices in several PU reports
  • To enhance capacity of CVs/CBOs for effectively support, Quality and timely sponsorship production.
4. To Promote, facilitate and abide to child Protection Policy and Procedures, code of conduct and mandatory reporting responsibilities.
  • Promote and facilitate child rights-based programming at field level.
  • promote and abide by internal policies and procedures including but not limited to: Child Protection Policy; Code of Conduct; mandatory reporting responsibility
  • Reports all incidents and concerns on child abuse to the relevant authorities.
  • Ensures that the Ward and Village Child Protection Committees are fully functional.
  • Ensure all partners and relevant others, including children and communities, are trained, sign and have access to the child protection policy (and other relevant documents such as the Code of Conduct), are aware of its contents and clear about the responsibilities it places on them.
5. Ensure quality and timely reporting of both mandatory and adhoc report.
  • Develop and submit to the PUM monthly progress and status reports, Projects Outlines with budgets and annual action plans
  • Monitor progress of project expenditures and submit budget modification request to the PUM
  • Well documented lesson learnt and best practice, on what work well and what needs to change on community level as evidenced in different PU reports
  • Downward accountability to stakeholders, especially children’s and communities including documenting what works for a wider sharing across Plan Tanzania is well facilitated as evidenced in quarterly reports
6. Property Management
  • Manage and maintain any assigned property or assets such as motor cycles, computer or other equipment’s in accordance with established rules and procedures.
7. Gender mainstreaming
  • Mainstream gender programming in all Plan business at the community level.
  • Promote and abide to Plan gender policy.

Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
